ABSTRACT

During its twenty years of independence, the dynamics of Tajikistans trade and economic relations with Russia and China have undergone dramatic changes. Russias share is gradually declining, while Chinas is growing; imports noticeably outstrip exports in Tajikistans goods turnover with these countries. The import and export commodity structures also greatly differ. Both Russia and China have their own areas of specialization in the economy and are pursuing a policy aimed at establishing unequal relations with Tajikistan.

In order to make forecasts and elaborate promising vectors in the development of Tajikistans economic system, a comparative analysis of the efficiency of its trade and economic relations with different countries of the world must be carried out. The matter primarily concerns Tajikistans largest foreign economic partnersthe Russian Federation and the Peoples Republic of China.
