PAN-TURKISM: CIVILIZATIONAL PROJECT OF MODERN TURKEY

The paper examines the conditions and circumstances under which Pan- Turkism became the foreign policy cornerstone of the Turkic Republic, traces its transformations and use by the Turkish political elite to consolidate the Turkic-speaking peoples and unite them into a single state, the Great Turan. Pan-Turkism strongly affects the policy of the Turkic Republic and the political processes unfolding across the post-Soviet space, as well as the situation in the Muslim regions of Russia. Certain measures that may help Russia stand opposed to the widening sphere of Pan-Turkism in the zone of Russia’s traditional political presence are presented in the Conclusion.
