Abstract

This article examines migration from Central Asian countries to Russia and Kazakhstan within the context of integration processes in the EAEU. Large and stable migration corridors exist between Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, and Russia and Kazakhstan. Migration from these Central Asian countries to Russia and Kazakhstan, which is second only to migration from Mexico to the United States in scale, has significant political, social, economic, and demographic impacts on both the migrants' home countries and their destination countries.

Most of these migrants are seeking work abroad. Labor migration often intersects with or transforms into other forms of cross-border movements, such as moving abroad for permanent residence or marrying a foreign citizen. Frequently, working in Russia or Kazakhstan can lead to permanent residence in one of these countries. Many Central Asian workers have become citizens of Russia or Kazakhstan, indicating successful integration into the societies of these countries.
